Is the photo shoot make-up different than wearing make-up like Lancome, Clinique, Almay, etc?

I had professional pictures done ... I wore my own foundation and the make-up artist applied the rest (powder, eye make up, blush, lipstick).

But my pictures came out as if I did not have any make-up on at all except for the eyes...I looked like a raccoon.

Any suggestions? Is the photo shoot make-up different than wearing make-up like Lancome, Clinique, Almay, etc?
They only difference is the difference is brands. Like Bobby Brown or Cover Girl for example. It is all in the application. Yes, you were under a lot more light and you need to compensate for that. Applying a mineral based brush on foundation over your regular foundation can really cover up and ';glow'; at the same time. Also quality powders such as Mac generally gave a higher pigment content than say any drug store brand. IE- they go on more intensely and last longer. Is the photo shoot make-up different than wearing make-up like Lancome, Clinique, Almay, etc?
photographer should have had better lighting.

there should have been no dark circles under your eyes....

obviously an overhead light was used that caused shadows.

bad photographer...bad lighting.
Make up isn't any different, it's the photo shooting thing. You're exposed to much more light, and that's why it looks as if you didn't have any or had just a bit of make up on. Generally whenever one has a photo shooting they always have more intense makeup then usually...
No it's not any different. It's all in the way you put make-up on, like what colors and mixtures you put together. Also it has to do with what you were taking your picture with, also put into consideration the lighting.
