My eyes burn and tear when wearing eyeliner. I have tried different brands-Lancome, Mac, Physician Formula, etc?

Does anyone know any products that don't cause the burn/teary eye thing? I don't wear any makeup except eyeliner occasionally - I am really bummed about this and thought of going back to old Kohl powder but heard some have lead. Any thoughts? My eyes burn and tear when wearing eyeliner. I have tried different brands-Lancome, Mac, Physician Formula, etc?
hmmm all of the ones that you have suggested are quality brands which don't contain cheap chimical that could make your eyes burn. I presume you are using pencil liner, if not then there's you aswer. If you apply liquid liner on the water line it will get in your eyes and sting, it's not designed for that part of the eye so stick to pencil on the water line. If it's pencil that you are useing you could be allergic to one of the ingrediats. to test this apply some of the liner just below the inside of the elbow and don't wash it off for a day. If the skin around it is irritated after a day then you are allergic to one of the ingrediants so you shouldn't use these liners in the future. if not then it is possible you have a minor eye infection and i'd advise you to go see a doctor or an eye specialist and sort it out. it's also possible that you just have sensitive eyes. if this is the case try clinique liners which are hypo allergenic and designed for sensitive skin or lush cosmetics which are made from all natural ingrediants.

I need alittle more info. Are you using liquid, gel, cream, or pencil liner? Pencil liners are best for being able to control how close to the eye the product is coming. If you're not using a pencil, try a pencil. Also, don't line your waterline, because it will definately get into your eye doing that, just line the outter part of your eyes (in other words, don't pull your eye skin down or up to line further into the lids/bottoms of your eyes)
You may be appying it too close to your eye ball so when you close your eye, it causes it to go inside and cause burning. Try applying it a little further way on your eyelid to see if that helps.

I have tried many liners myself and I really like the cheapest type I tried because it doesn't wipe off as easily as the others. It's by Wet N' Wild. You can find it at most drugstores. :D
You could be allergic to the ingredients in eyeliner, my friends allergic to it too, and she has a similar reaction.

Try using black eyeshadow, and an eyeliner brush.

Hope i helped
